KAPIT (Bernama) -- Having undergone a much-needed facelift, Sekolah Kebangsaan Ulu Pelagus now sports an atmosphere that is more conducive to learning.

Its 54 students, 14 teachers and nine support staff are thankful that national oil and gas company Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) chose the school for its outreach programme.

SK Ulu Pelagus' RM1.35 million upgrading project, completed earlier this month, was carried out by Petronas and eight of its contractor partners as a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. Work on the project started in March this year.

The school's previously dilapidated buildings have been spruced up and new walkways to the classrooms and hostel buildings have been built.

The school now boasts a multipurpose hall, new main gate, new hostel toilets and other facilities as well.
