Aksem Seizes Contraband Cigarettes, Alcohol Worth RM7 Million

KUALA PERLIS, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- The Perlis Border Security Agency (Aksem) seized an assortment of contraband cigarettes and liquor worth more than RM7 milllion during a raid at a warehouse in Permatang Pauh, Penang, on Monday.

Padang Besar Aksem commander ASP Bahari Ahmad said five Bangladeshi men and a local man aged 20 and 64 were arrested.

"A total of 24,374 cartons of contraband white cigarettes and 1,814 cartons of liquor, hidden in the warehouse were seized. Six lorries believed to be used to distribute the contraband in the northern states were also seized," he told a press conference here today.
