MmyCuaca 3.0 Application More Sophisticated - Madius

PETALING JAYA, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- The myCuaca 3.0 mobile app version to be introduced next year will enable consumers to receive weather information as a pop-up message on the device screen, says Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau.

He said the push button function found on the latest version of the app would enable information to appear on the screen thus helping the public make early preparations to face any changes in the weather.

"The myCuaca application was introduced by the ministry since 2015 to give information updates on bad weather, strong winds, turbulent seas, tsunamis, weather forecasts, earthquake incidents, weather radar and satellite images.

"Currently we have myCuaca 2.0 and we are upgrading to myCuaca 3.0 version with the addition of several new functions including the push button function to make it convenient for consumers to get accurate information," he said after a briefing on myCuaca app to media practitioners here, today.

Madius said MOSTI was targeting over 1 million downloads of the latest version of the app when launched next year and that the earlier version of the app had already been downloaded by 56,000 users nationwide.

"For a start, I have instructed MOSTI department heads and staff to launch a campaign on downloading this application including holding the campaign at flood relief centres and we will provide incentives to states with large number of followers," he said.

According to him, consumers could also download the app through Google Play Store and iTunes Store.
