HSR Project To Create 440,000 Job Opportunities

MELAKA, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail Project (KL-SG HSR) will create 444,000 job opportunities for Malaysians.

My HSR Corporation (My-HSR Corp) Corporate Communications senior manager, Tonny Yep said the RM70 billion project with a 328 km alignment would also bring positive effect developing skilled and talented people who in turn would generate sustainable opportunities for future generations.

"Work on the project is expected to start next year until 2026 and this will lead to prolific development in Melaka," he told reporters during a briefing session with the media here today.

He said 57 km of the track would pass through Melaka, including near the Ayer Keroh Toll Plaza in the Durian Tunggal sub-district, and would reduce travel time from the Bandar Malaysia HSR station in Kuala Lumpur to Melaka.

In order to give information on the project to the public, he said My-HSR Corp provided seven permanent and temporary public exhibition centres at selected locations along the HSR alignment which opened from Nov 1 and will close on Jan 31, 2018.
