KPDNKK To Launch 'Price Catcher' Mobile App In November

TEMERLOH, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) will introduce a new mobile application that allows consumers in the country to obtain information on retail stores and restaurants that offer goods and food at reasonable prices.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, said the new application, codenamed Price Catcher, will be launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Nov 1.

"The price of goods displayed in the new app will change daily as it will be updated through our existing price monitoring system and improved by the Friends of KPDNKK (FOK) members, who are also consumers, as they know more about the locations and stores that sells goods at affordable price.

"Through the new Price Catcher app, FOK members will also have the opportunity to directly distribute any information on any violation of consumer-related laws to the ministry or the shortage of essential items such as cooking oil," he told reporters after officiating the state-level FOK here today.

Also present was Temerloh UMNO division chief, who is also State Tourism and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsuddin.

He said that the new app would be available for download on smart phones and currently in the final stage of updating before the launch in November.

At the same time, Hamzah said FOK membership has reached 805,000 people since it was launched in May.

"Pahang is the 11th state where we are launching FOK and we are targeting by the end of this year, its membership will reach one million people," he said.
