Bank Rakyat's PBTZ For 1H17 Increases To RM958 Million

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6 (Bernama) -- Bank Rakyat group profit before tax and zakat (PBTZ) for the first six months ended June 30, 2017 (1H17) increased 6.38 per cent, year-on-year (y-o-y), to RM958 million from RM900 million registered, previously, driven by a strong top line revenue growth, especially from retail financing and treasury activities.

The group's net profit for 1H17 increased 10.48 per cent to RM884 million compared with RM800 million chalked up in the corresponding period, the bank said in a statement today.

"Top line revenue grew to RM3.13 billion in 1H17, a 5.42 per cent or RM160.58 million increase compared with RM2.96 billion previously, driven by the strong growth in personal and home financing," it said.

The group's total assets grew 7.59 per cent, y-o-y, to RM104.26 billion compared with RM96.91 billion previously, in line with the average growth in the financial industry.

Meanwhile, return on assets remained high at 1.88 per cent, higher than the industry average, it added.
