Thousands Crowd Hang Jebat Stadium For Asian Cup Qualifier

MELAKA, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- Thousands of Harimau Malaya fans have started to flood Hang Jebat Stadium, Krubong to obtain tickets for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualifier between Malaysia and Hong Kong tonight.

A Bernama observation found the uncertain weather did not hinder local football supporters from queuing for tickets when the counters opened at 10am.

They are hoping to see the national squad bounce back into contention on home ground after losing 1-2 to Lebanon on June 13 in Larkin and as well as a 1-2 defeat to Syria and 0-1 loss to Myanmar in two friendly matches.

A local fan, Mohd Fadzli Mohd Fadzal, 33, said wanted to see the national squad in action at the stadium and to cheer for Harimau Malaya so that they could play with more confidence.

"Despite knowing Malaysia are facing a difficult path due to their previous losses, they need to maintain their fighting spirit and display a more positive game," he said.
