Police To Monitor Six Accident-Prone Locations In Kelantan

GUA MUSANG, June 19 (Bernama) -- Police will monitor six dangerous locations at three major roads in Kelantan to avoid accidents in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration next week, said State Police Chief Datuk Hasanuddin Hassan.

They are at Kilometer (KM) 311.1 and 318.5 Jalan Kuala Krai - Gua Musang; KM 732 Jalan Rantau Panjang - Pasir Mas near Lubok Jong; KM 290.2 Jalan Tanah Merah - Pasir Puteh in front of JKR Machang; KM 37 Jalan Kota Bharu - Terengganu; KM 16.2 and 16.8 Jalan Panglima Bayu - Rantau Panjang - Jeram Perdah.

"These locations will be monitored by the police patrol team so that motorists comply with road regulations," he told reporters after launching the "Ops Selamat" in conjunction with the Aidilfitri at Hentian Gua Musang in Kampung Tanah Puteh here last night.

Also present were Kelantan Road Transport director Mahasan Mustafa and Gua Musang district police chief Supt Rajab Ahad Ismail.

Hasanuddin said the police would focus on road safety to meet the target of zero fatal crash during the Ops Selamat for the period between June 18 and July 2.

He said members of the police patrol team had been instructed to carry out patrol at the affected locations and to take stern action against the errant motorists.

"The police will also carry out patrol in housing areas to prevent house-breaking during the festive celebration," he said and advised those returning to their hometowns for Aidilfitri to fill the house safety form to facilitate monitoring by the police.
