Kedah KPDNKK Seize 1,051 LPG Tanks

ALOR SETAR, May 25 (Bernama) -- The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) seized 1,051 tanks of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) weighing 13,040 kg at an LPG storage and sales premise, in Padang Sena, Jitra, yesterday.

Kedah KPDNKK chief enforcement officer, Shamsul Nizam Khalil said the raid at 10am by a team of seven enforcement team detained a man, 46, who admitted he was the director of the premises.

"LPG tanks worth RM108,856 were seized," he said in a statement here today.

Action was taken after finding that the premises that possessed a wholesale licence stored LPG control items exceeding the current holding limit of 2,500kg and for retail license, 135kg.

"Of the 1,051 tanks seized, 837 were filled with LPG weighing 12kg, while another 214 tanks contained 14kg each," he said.

KPDNKK will continue to curb the misappropriation of subsidised goods, especially LPG, and welcomed information on the occurrence of such activities.
