Government Allocated RM154.25 Million For Community College Students Since 2011 - Mary Yap

PENAMPANG, April 21 (Bernama) -- The government allocated a total of RM154.25 million for financial aid to 54,479 community college students across the country since 2011, said Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Dr Mary Yap Kain Ching.

She said the financial assistance was disbursed through the Financial Aid for Community College Students (BKPKK) programme, aimed at easing the students´ financial burden and to enable them to study comfortably and be more focused.

Yap said BKPKK payments were given in the form of RM300 monthly allowance to students enrolled in certificate programmes at the community colleges and paid during the length of the study period and subject to certain conditions.

"This proves that the government is concerned and cares about the welfare of the students and to ensure that nobody is left behind in the field of education, " she told reporters after handing over mock cheques to BKPKK recipients from the Penampang Community College here today.

Also present was the college´s director Samat Soion @ Saiun.

At the event, a total of 48 recipients from the college, namely students who enrolled in Certificate in Architectural Technology and Certificate in Business Operations (July 2016 intake), received RM1,200 in financial aid each.
